North America follow closely with US$3.3 Million, while Europe: US$ 2.7 Million, Asia: US$ 1.95 Million. Both Africa and South America US$1.35 Million in sales, and Oceania US$ 0.3 Million. 【DETERMINATION】 Together with a stronger branding plan, the organizer this year has already planned a very aggressive campaign a year ahead to improve the show’s visibility through the “Cebu X Goes Abroad” Program. Cebu X has already set specific important international shows where it shall send delegation to represent the show. Furthermore, with the design and product development program on full blast for Cebu X 2008, the “home lifestyle design destination of Asia” will continue to become the most cost-effective way for Philippine’s local small and medium companies to break into the international market. <CFIF’s Design and Product Development Project for Cebu X 2007> To drive design and product innovation in the Cebu International Furniture and Furnishings Exhibition (Cebu X) and to sustain Cebu X’s Position as the Home Lifestyle Design Destination of Asia, the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF) engaged a pool of design consultants composed of no less than two of the country’s leading industrial designers Carlo S. Tanseco and Val Padilla along with three Designers from the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines’ (PDDCP) Art Delgado, James Non and Rowe Requejo to run this year’s Design and Product Development Project. The design consultants draw inspiration and create designs from existing materials being used by the participating companies. They also impart their design philosophies to the design teams they are working with. Carefully selected companies are participating in the design program with Carlo Tanseco and Val Padilla, which is funded by CFIF and Pearl 2 of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). The design program with PDDCP, on the other hand, involves mentoring of the design teams of the participating companies using design principles learned from the training workshops conducted by the Association of German Industrial Designers (VDID) through the project titled: “Strengthening the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF) through networking with two German intermediary Business Associations (IBOs) in the field of product design ad marketing to the EU.” The project is funded by Asia Invest, a European Community initiative that aims to promote and support business cooperation between the EU and Asia. |

The program is managed by CFIF-Information Center (IC), the design and business information powerhouse of the Philippine furniture industry. CFIF IC runs two cluster of information services: business information services (BIS) and design information services (BIS). Both clusters are designed to provide market intelligence to CFIF member companies and to enhance the industry’s design competitiveness, respectively.
